Buoyant area of North West Leeds. Situated one and a half miles from Leeds city centre. This area is home to Kirkstall Abbey, one of the most complete examples of a medieval Cistercian abbey in Britain Set in wonderful parkland along the banks of the River Aire, Kirkstall Abbey boasts historic architecture amid a haven of wildlife and greenery.
Kirkstall also boasts a fantastic mix of retail and leisure facilities such as the Vue cinema complex, which comprises of cinema, gymnasium, bowling/arcade and restaurants such as ‘Frankie & Bennies’, ‘Palace Chine’, ‘Louisiana’, ‘‘Nandos’, ‘Shanti’ and much more.
Kirkstall Road itself is also renowned for its convenient sandwich bars and popular restaurants such as the award winning ‘Shish Mahal’ and ‘Viva Cuba’, both famous for their great service and quality food at reasonable prices. Just up the road is a particular Redbrick favourite Bengal Brassiere with their famous Sunday Buffet.
The West End and the Vesper Gate are both traditional bars with great beers and great food situated further along Kirkstall Road. The West End offers hearty home cooked Sunday lunches – book in advance.
