Leeds Guide: West Park
Situated approximately 4 miles north of the city centre, West Park is a short walk from Headingley, Kirkstall and Hyde Park. The name derives from its main park, which contains playing fields and a conservation area of grassy meadow ending in woodland – perfect for those long country walks!
The amenities of West Park lie in two main areas, on Otley Road where there are several shops and restaurants. The main parade of shops on Otley Road are noted for their Dutch fronts. There are also the amenities on the Moor Grange estate, which include a beauticians, hair salons, two cafes, Co-op, two newsagents, several takeaways, a pet shop, a florist, a laundrette, The Dalesman pub and much more.
Dough Bistro, situated on Spen Lane, serves award winning, locally sourced British food and a variety of good wines. It is also has a BYO policy – great if you want to bring your favourite tipple along! The service is fantastic and the food is affordable. Dough have now also opened a sandwich bar next door to the restaurant – for those on the go.
