Since the end of the first lockdown in May last year we have definitely noticed a shift towards viewers requesting properties with some amount of outside space, whether it be a balcony on a city centre apartment, or a garden for a house in the suburbs.
Although we are lucky in Leeds in that 8.5% is public green space, in Great Britain 1 in 8 households (12%) have no access to a private or shared garden during the coronavirus lockdown.
In fact, private outdoor space was the strongest design-based predictor of comfort during lockdown and the most valued quality of a home during the pandemic.
Therefore, it should come as no surprise that buyers and renters have been in search of private outside space, with ‘Garden’ the most popular search term in 2020.
With spring just round the corner, renters will soon be making the most of their sought-after outside space.
